Software development at AMS unexpectedly swings from feast or famine within a few weeks notice. We need help when things get a little too heavy. Most of the projects are split down to blocks that take from a few hours to a weeks work of coding. Getting the big issue aired first. All development work for AMS Computing is under our copyright. We don't mind if you take the same code and write the next digg.com, but the code on our system is written under the 'work for hire' clause.

There is no need to work at AMS' office, or even in the UK. A true virtual existence; AMS Computing mostly functions remotely or telecommute, working from our own homes.

We spend our days on irc://freenode/ams, if you have any questions or for a chat.

You need to know php. There is no training provided. A little guidance and some friendly help from us, explains our simple form filling websites.

There isn't too much documentation in the code as the sites are straightforward and simple stock forms.

AMS web servers' are Debian Linux, lighttpd, MySQL5, and php5 boxes.

We work in the old school functions style, not php classes. One day, when things are quiet, will be time to rewrite the existing systems in OOP.

Everything is bespoke, no php frameworks. There is a little touch of AJAX, most of the sites are standard HTML form processing.

No major code style rules: tabs not spaces, braces on separate lines, wrap lines near 80.

Approval is when AMS signs off the initial code. No waiting for client's feedback or acceptance.

Payment is made as soon as the code is signed off by us, either weekly or monthly depending on your needs.

There is a confidentiality agreement relating to our IP, software products, and clients databases.
